The aim of this study was to construct a simplified depression survey scale and to verify its efficacy as a pre-screening for antenatal depression. The Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS) questionnaire was completed by them. The subjects were randomly divided into two groups: 250 of training set and 244 of validation set. The sum of item 5 (scare or panic) and item 8 (sadness or misery) explained 75.5
