A dog with a history of diarrhea, dyschezia showed an oval shaped, soft tissue opacity mass was identified in the abdomen on radiographs. CT examination revealed a large fluid-filled structure which displaced the UB, prostate and colon. The mass has continuity with the prostate. Therefore it was tentatively diagnosed as a paraprostatic cyst. Cytologic examination was performed and it was considered as a non-inflammatory cyst. After surgery, histopathologic examination revealed a necrotic, inflamed cystic lipoma. This case describes that unusual intra-abdominal lipomas may have cystic appearance.
