Autophagy is an ubiquitously self-stabilizing process in eukaryotes with functions in maintenance of cellular metabolism and renewal of some organelles. The role of autophagy in cancer is indicated as bi-directional in recent researches. Osteosarcoma is a kind of malignant tumor of high mortality. At present, comprehensive therapy for osteosarcoma is effective to a certain extent. But no prominent progresses have been made in recent years. This review summarizes relations between autophagy and its research progress in osteosarcoma in recent years, expecting to prompt some new clues for osteosarcoma treatment.
