Since 1959, 11 cases of giant cell tumor of the lower end of the radius were treated with hemijoint transplantation using the upper end of fibula after resection of the tumor at a level 2 cm from the proximal margin. The head of the fibula on the contralateral side was used for grafting to substitute the lower end of radius. The longest fibular graft was 10 cm and the shortest 7.5 cm. The time for bone union averaged 3 months. According to the author's experience, free transplantation of the upper segment of fibula smaller than 10 cm is usually successful and there is no need to use a graft with vascular pedicle.
