Objective To discuss the clinical diagnosis and differential diagnosis of Charcot's arthropathy. Methods A retrospective analysis of 1 case of Charcot's arthropathy was conducted. Results A 35-year-old male with syringomyelia was admitted to the hospital due to the inactive and swollen left knee joint. The X-rays of the left knee joint showed that the shape of the left tibial plateau was irregular, and the bone was not continuous. There were many bone fragments around, and the new bone was formed. He was misdiagnosed by a local hospital as "a pathological fracture of the left knee joint". Through a detailed history inquiry, physical and auxiliary examination, a clear diagnosis of left knee Charcot's arthropathy was given by our hospital. Conclusions Charcot's arthropathy is not common in clinic. Its diagnosis is difficult and the misdiagnosis rate is high. We needs to further strengthen the understanding of it.
