Minimally invasive treatment of lumbar disc herniation is highlighted in spinal surgery and percutaneous endoscopic lumbar discectomy is the most popular one in recent years. Based on YESS and TESSYS, PEID, BEIS, ULESS, Easy techniques and Target techniques have derivatized with homogeneous principles and excellent improvement rate. However, their operative steps are different with particular limitations. We reviewed related literatures and described the history, technical key points, effectiveness, safety, limitation and learning curve to provide references.
